You will be given an opportunity to make an online bid at the end of the catalogue listing. Any e-mail bids need to be submitted by 22.00 the evening before the Yeovil sale and 12.00 the day of the Wells sale.

If you do not have a bidding number, please register first by providing all your contact details Click here to register and mark your message 'bidding number'. Alternatively, ensure your full contact details are included in any bids and you will be given a bidding number automatically.

Our Sales

McCubbing & Redfern hold antique & collectable auctions every four weeks in Wells on a Wednesday at 1.30 p.m., and in Yeovil the following Saturday at 10.30 a.m. We are happy to accept a single item, a collection or an entire house clearance. We can collect your goods or you can bring them in to us.

We auction items on behalf of private vendors, solicitors, estate agents, antique dealers, and charities. We offer valuations for auction, insurance and probate, and provide an in-house collection and delivery service.

Our sale dates are advertised in the Antiques Trade Gazette, Mid Somerset Journal, Western Gazette, Western Daily Press, the Blackmore Vale/Fosse Way, Antique Explorer, Antiques Magazine & What's it Worth?

Our viewing days are the day preceding the sale (9.30 a.m. to 7 p.m.), and on the morning of the sale from 9.00 a.m. There is plenty of parking on our forecourt in Yeovil and across the road from the Wells Auction Rooms. We can also organise collection of your lots from either auction room.

Light refreshments are available during sale days and there are washroom facilities upstairs at Yeovil and across the road from the Wells Auction Rooms.

Buying at Auction

Catalogues are available at the office and staff are available to answer any questions you may have.

To bid you need to register with the office who will give you a bidding number unique to yourself. This bidding number can be written on the back of your catalogue or you may be given a buyer card.

You can use the same number whenever you visit the either the Yeovil or Wells auction. If you forget your bidding number, the office can remind you of it, there’s no need to register again.

Please ensure your bids are made clear to the auctioneer as the sale is progressing. If you are successful in your bid please hold up your bidding number so the auctioneer can record your purchase.

You pay the price you bid plus a buyer’s premium stated in the catalogue. VAT at the standard rate of 17.5% is applied to this premium.

Our payment terms are displayed in the auction rooms and at the office.

We accept cash, cheques and credit/debit cards. No lots may be removed until payment is made.

Collection of Lots

Once you have paid for your purchases the office will issue an invoice which you can take to a member of staff in the auction room for collection. No items are to be removed from cabinets. To minimise disruption to the auctioneer we ask that you collect your lots at the end the sale. We appreciate this is not always possible and will assist if possible. We supply an in-house delivery service at minimal cost or you can request item collection from the auction rooms closest to you. We are also happy to post items to you at the purchaser's expense.

Selling at Auction

We accept single items, collections, or house clearances and will give you an honest and expert appraisal of what your goods may realise at auction. Please contact us on 01935 428101 or 01749 678099 for further details, or e-mail admin@mccubbingandredfern.co.uk

We charge a seller's premium of 15% or a minimum lot charge, whichever is the greater. VAT at the standard rate of 17.5% is applied to the premium. This cost is deducted from the hammer price achieved at auction.

If goods are unsold the minimum lot charge is still applied.

You can 'reserve' a value on your items if you need a certain price to be reached. We do not charge for reserve prices, for valuations or for internet/catalogue images.

Insurance is available at £1 per lot (minimum) or at 1% of lower estimate.

We pay all sale proceeds within 7-14 days following the sale, normally by cheque.

at the office or in the sale catalogue.
